The Chipper Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) outlines the main hazards and risks associated with the operation of chippers used to shred vegetation and tree waste including operation of plant, hazardous manual tasks, falling objects, working on or near traffic and mobile plant, electrical hazards, and noise. The SWMS provides details of the safety precautions (including personal protection) required when operating chippers.
